Excellent new position for a 2024 NQ lawyer to move into the highly-respected Real Estate & Investment team of a top-tier Scottish law firm. This role will be based in Edinburgh.
Role Profile:
- Exciting opportunity for a newly qualified Solicitor to join the Real Estate practice, working on development and investment deals with international and UK 'blue-chip' investors, well known retailers and marketing leading developers.
- The work will range from having a vital role in a team of several colleagues across the firm working on major projects to having your own independent transactions to take ownership of and demonstrate your management and client-facing skills.
- Some of the work you will be involved in includes:Managing well known offices, shopping centres, retail parks, logistics and high streets in Scotland for different investment clients. This is practising law at its most tangible.
- Being involved in market leading Build to Rent city centre development projects and the 'Living' agenda.
- Helping investors strive towards Net Zero, including on cutting edge solar projects.
- Helping developers build student accommodation and turning brownfield sites into thriving communities.
- Principally acting for the investor/landlord/developer.
Responsibilities:
- Being first point of contact for key investor clients in connection with all aspects of their lease asset management.
- Working as part of the bigger practice area 'team' on investment sales and acquisitions.
- Shaping commercial solutions to problems and helping deliver transactions on time.
- Drafting and negotiating lease documentation, principally for landlords.
- Drafting, negotiating and implementing acquisition/sale contracts.
- Preparing title and lease reports for investment acquisitions.
- Harnessing IT to deliver our work as proficiently as possible.
Candidate Requirements:
- A prior seat in commercial property/ real estate would be an advantage but not essential.
- Takes a pragmatic and commercial approach to transactions.
- Interest and enthusiasm for the property industry.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for direct client contact and working with colleagues in other disciplines across the firm.
- Communicates in a confident, clear and relaxed way and able to participate in business development objectives with clients and potential referrers.
- Adapts style of communication appropriately when dealing with colleagues and clients.
- Where appropriate takes responsibility for their own transactions and advice, subject to supervision.
- Ability to deal with competing priorities and meet deadlines .
- Shows understanding of clients’ needs, and tailors advice appropriately.
