Defender Insurance Lawyer- Glasgow
National law firm is looking to add to their team with the hire of additional lawyers to join their high-profile Defender Insurance Team.
Role Profile:
- The Defender Insurance team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private sector and the public sector. The team is second-to-none in providing litigation defence services in these and other specialist Casualty areas and operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance, motor, disease, regulatory and public sector teams and as part of a wider specialism we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team.
- You will work in a dedicated insurance team based out of Glasgow with your own varied caseload of predominantly pre and litigated disease claims as well as EL/PL claims, motor/fraud and assist with high value and complex claims- The firm receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers, as well as local authorities.
- You will be responsible for the running of the day to day of your cases including liaising with clients, opponents, court, witnesses and undertaking your own liability investigations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Predominantly PI including EL, PL and Disease and Motor.
- Work as part of a team providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the team’s clients.
- Assist the Team Manager and other Partners with their cases, client development, client training, networking and potentially public speaking where required.
- Complete MI procedures as and when required.
- Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
- Ensure relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPI’s are adhered to.
- Comply with relevant policies and procedures.
About You
Ideally you will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks.
Ideally you will have the following experience:
- Previous experience at managing the defence of EL/PL casualty claims is essential.
- Previous experience at managing the defence of motor/fraud/disease claims is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of Court of Session and Sheriff Court procedure preferable.
- Experience of handling own caseload.
- Good influencing skills.
- Good communication skills.
